The Electrochemical Society (ECS) is an international organization, which concerned to the forefront research and educational activities in the field of electrochemical and solid-state science and technology. The society has a large number of members and brings together academia as well as industry scientist around the world. ECS held and encourage various activities to disseminate the fields including meetings, scientific publications, etc. The 228th ECS meeting is one of the two major international annual meeting hold by the society. This meeting consists of the technical symposia, panel discussions, poster sessions, workshops, exhibition from industry, the Electrochemical Energy Summit and social events. A broad range of the multidisciplinary knowledge relating to electrochemical and solid-state science and technology for many applications such as battery, sensor, nano electronic material and semiconductor devices was presented and discussed during the meeting.

2. 研究テーマと討論内容

My talk presentation at ECS meeting

In this meeting, my talk presentation was performed in the symposium M-01, which is about sensors, actuators and microsystems general sessions, on October 14 at 14:20-14:40. I presented my research with the title as "amplification strategy of FET biosensor signal for sensitive detection of prion proteins". Basically, detection of prion protein at very low concentration is of utmost importance and promising for practical applications. The capability of highly sensitive detection would be very useful for early detection, preventing the further aggregation of infectious protein and minimizing the spread of the diseases. The established conventional methods such as fluorescence and ELISA usually require labeling step and technical complexity. By developing FET biosensor, we expect to construct an alternative and promising device on prion detection with a simple, label-free and sensitive detection performance. In this presentation, I discussed two novel strategies to enhance the signal of field effect transistor (FET) biosensor for detecting prion proteins. This approach not only generates an improved signal to achieve the clinical concentration, but also can provide a unique way that is useful for designing highly sensitive FET biosensors.

3. 国際会議に出席した成果
(コミュニケーション・国際交流・感想)

I was very grateful for joining in this ECS meeting, which has served and provided various activities to learn the current researches and to exchange the ideas. In the symposium of biosensor research, I could communicate and discussed ideas with many researchers including some experts in the field. I also received some feedback and questions in my presentation, which are helpful and valuable to sharpen and expand my consideration in the next study. In addition, I met with new friends who are also graduate students in other universities when I joined the student mixer event. In general, my participation on the ECS meeting would be a great and meaningful experience for me to broaden the networking in the scientific research community and to stimulate further motivation as young student researcher for future career.
